Wow!  Can you believe that the first term is nearly over already!

I just can't believe how fast time has gone AND I just can't believe how far all of your children have come in their learning since the beginning of the year!  I really can't wait to see what new learning they do next term :)

This week we have been busy measuring in Maths and looking at things which are longer, shorter, bigger and smaller.  We have been using 'gingerbread men' templates to measure with, so .... today Ben's mum made us some gingerbread men to ice ............  what a treat!!!  Thank you so so much Mrs Hine - it was such a wonderful way to finish our Maths unit and we can't thank you enough for all your help and thoughtfulness.  Here are some photos ......

Earlier in the week, we looked at how one of the symbols of the Holy Spirit is water - we talked of how the Holy Spirit fills us and flows through us like water.  As part of this, we had 3 stations which we rotated around, to do with water.  We loved it!!!

And finally, I thought you might like to see a clip of some of the Room 2 children in Kapahaka on Wednesday ....

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday with your beautiful children and I will see you all again in Term 2.

Wednesday 6 April 2016

Hi there everyone,

Your child may have told you that we had some visitors this afternoon from various preschools in the area.  They visited both Rooms 1 and 2 and were looking at ways they could improve the transition from preschool to school.

In Room 2, we were continuing on with our "Try, try, try" unit so today we read 'Green Eggs and Ham'.  We talked about how Sam-I-Am never gave up trying to convince his friend to eat green eggs and ham - and in the end, his friend loved them!  We then made our own version of 'Green Eggs and Ham' ....

Earlier in the day, we measured and compared the length of our faces, feet, arms and around our waists.  I was really surprised how well the children complete this task!

And finally today, one of our groups read to the class today ... I managed to video the last wee bit ....

Hello everyone,

Today we started the Holy Spirit strand during Religious Education.  We talked about we cannot see the Holy Spirit but we know that it is there.  To help explain this, we went and watched the wind blowing the trees - we couldn't see the wind but we knew that it was around us, moving the leaves on the trees.  We also talked about how our breath is invisible - we cannot see it but it keeps us alive.  To further explain this, we went out and blew bubbles ... the children had so much fun!

Just a wee reminder that it is our last Hockey Skills session tomorrow.  We will be having it with Rooms 1, 11 and 12 so I'm sure it will be a lot of fun!  See you in the morning.

FUNDAY FRIDAY

We all love Fridays in Room 2!!!

As part of our Easter unit, we made crosses to celebrate that Jesus has risen.  We put tape on our white paper then used tempera paints to completely paint the page.  After this paint had dried, we peeled off the tape and we were left with a beautiful cross, surrounded by bright, vibrant colours to celebrate Jesus' resurrection.  Our work is up on the Room 2 windows for everyone to see .... I am really proud of ALL the children's work.  They all just love art and are so focussed and quiet during our Art sessions!  We hope you like our work!!!

I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll see you on Monday.
